European energy company infrastructure at dusk

ABOUT

About SANIA Power AG

SANIA Power AG is an independent, privately held energy trading company headquartered in Zug, Switzerland. Founded in February 2015, we have grown from a family enterprise into a structured, multi-entity trading group active across Central and Central-Eastern European energy markets. The sections below describe our history, the values that guide our work, the structure that supports our operations, the people who lead us, and the responsibilities we acknowledge as a participant in Europe’s energy system.

Our story

The foundation years (2015–2017)

SANIA Power AG was incorporated on 27 February 2015 in the Canton of Schwyz, Switzerland, as a joint-stock company (Aktiengesellschaft) under Swiss law, founded by energy market professionals with experience in cross-border commercial transactions. The company’s first registered office was in Wollerau and subsequently in Pfäffikon — both in the Canton of Schwyz — and in 2020 it relocated its seat to Zug, one of Europe’s preeminent commodity trading centres; it has been entered in the commercial register of the Canton of Zug ever since. The early years were dedicated to establishing market access, building the operational and regulatory infrastructure required for European energy trading, and securing the company’s first counterparties. By the end of 2017, SANIA had recorded its first profitable financial year and established a foothold in regional gas and electricity markets. The disciplined approach adopted in this formative period — building slowly, reinvesting earnings, and avoiding speculative exposure — has shaped our commercial philosophy ever since.

Building scale (2018–2019)

Between 2018 and 2019, SANIA achieved meaningful commercial scale. Net revenues grew from approximately CHF 16.6 million to CHF 26.9 million, supported by an expanding counterparty network and the gradual development of cross-border trading capabilities. During this period, the company laid the foundations of its internal risk management infrastructure and began the technology investments that would later mature into a proprietary Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) platform.

Through volatility (2020–2022)

The years 2020 to 2022 tested every participant in the European energy market. The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted demand patterns and operational continuity; the energy crisis triggered by the geopolitical reconfiguration of 2022 (the war in Ukraine) caused unprecedented price volatility and margin pressures that forced several established trading firms out of business. SANIA maintained profitability throughout this period, with net revenues continuing to grow from CHF 32.6 million in 2020 to CHF 38.3 million in 2021 and CHF 42.6 million in 2022. The company’s resilience during these years remains the clearest practical evidence of the soundness of its disciplined, non-speculative business model.

A new phase of growth (2023–present)

In 2023 and 2024, SANIA entered a new phase of structured expansion. Net revenues grew to CHF 50.1 million in 2023 and CHF 55.9 million in 2024, supported by geographic diversification, continued technology investment, and the formalisation of a professional organisational structure. SANIA Power AG remained profitable in 2025 and, based on preliminary internal management information as at 27 July 2026, is also profitable year to date in 2026. Today, the SANIA Group operates through five entities across four European jurisdictions, with a team of fifteen professionals supporting trading, risk management, operations, and business development. We are actively preparing for further expansion across the European energy landscape — into new markets, new product categories, and new client segments.

Financial information note: profitability for 2017–2024 is based on SANIA Power AG’s annual financial statements. The 2025 result is based on the company’s annual accounts, which had not yet been filed as at 27 July 2026. The 2026 year-to-date status is based on preliminary internal management information as at 27 July 2026. SANIA Power AG currently applies the Swiss audit exemption; these figures are not presented as audited. Financial data of subsidiaries is not published.

Vision & mission

Our vision

To build an integrated energy trading platform that connects Europe’s principal energy markets and facilitates the efficient flow of energy — from regions of abundance to regions of need — while contributing to a sustainable and resilient European energy system.

Our mission

To deliver reliable, cost-effective energy procurement and portfolio optimisation to our clients through structured commercial solutions, underpinned by disciplined risk management, proprietary technology, and deep market expertise — combining the stability of our Swiss headquarters with the agility of our regional subsidiaries.

03

Our values

Integrity & transparency

We conduct our business in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and we maintain open, honest communication with our counterparties, regulators, and stakeholders. Our operations are designed to be auditable and traceable at every level — not because compliance demands it, but because trust requires it.

Discipline & prudence

Energy markets reward preparation and penalise recklessness. Every transaction we execute is supported by prior risk assessment, margin calculation, and portfolio analysis. We do not pursue speculative profit; we pursue controlled, repeatable value creation through structured commercial activity.

Agility & responsiveness

In volatile markets, speed matters. Our owner-managed structure enables rapid, accountable decision-making without the bureaucratic delays that often encumber larger organisations. We can respond to market opportunities and client needs within hours, not days — while maintaining the formal governance standards expected of a Swiss-registered enterprise.

Partnership & long-term thinking

We view our commercial relationships as partnerships built on mutual trust and shared interest. Our goal is not the cheapest price, but the greatest sustained value. The same principle applies to our internal culture: we build careers, not just teams.

The SANIA Group

The SANIA Group comprises SANIA Power AG, the Swiss holding company, and four wholly-owned subsidiaries operating across Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary. This structure supports market access across selected Central European electricity and gas markets through the relevant group company and, depending on the market, direct memberships, bilateral OTC arrangements, or contracted intermediaries, while maintaining centralised strategic direction, financial control, and risk management from the Swiss headquarters.

Two subsidiaries — enSwiss Energy Trading AG and SANIA Power s.r.o. — hold the licences and market registrations required for participation in and beyond their national energy markets. SANIA Power s.r.o. holds electricity and gas wholesale licences in Slovakia and gas wholesale licences in Austria and Hungary; SANIA Power AG also holds a gas wholesale licence for the Austrian market. The other two subsidiaries currently perform a support function within the group: they assist the operations of the other group entities and do not carry on licensable wholesale activity. The structure is designed for scalability: additional subsidiaries can be established as the group’s geographic footprint expands.

All subsidiaries are wholly owned by SANIA Power AG, ensuring unified strategic direction, complete financial control, and consistent risk management across the group.

Centralised governance

SANIA Power AG provides centralised governance across the group: strategic planning and commercial direction; financial reporting, treasury management, and capital structure oversight; the group-wide risk management framework and limit-setting system; IT infrastructure and ETRM platform development; and regulatory compliance oversight. This model ensures consistency of standards across all jurisdictions while allowing each subsidiary the operational flexibility required for effective local market participation.

05

Leadership

SANIA Power AG is led by energy and financial sector professionals who combine operational trading experience with strategic vision — and who are also the company’s owners. This alignment of ownership and management means that every strategic decision is taken with a long-term perspective and personal accountability, and that the leadership team remains directly involved in daily operations across the group.

József Faragó — Chief Executive Officer & Founder

Mr. Faragó founded SANIA Power AG in 2015 and has led the company’s growth from a family enterprise into a structured, multi-entity trading group operating across four European jurisdictions. He is responsible for the company’s overall strategic direction, principal commercial relationships, and capital planning, drawing on extensive experience in cross-border energy market transactions.

James Smith — Chief Commercial Officer

Mr. Smith oversees SANIA’s trading operations and commercial strategy across all markets. Margit Faragó-Deák — Chief Financial Officer

Ms. Faragó-Deák is responsible for the financial management of the SANIA Group, including treasury operations, financial reporting, cash flow planning, and capital structure optimisation. She ensures that the group’s financial operations meet the governance and transparency standards expected of a Swiss-registered enterprise.

Mr. Bene leads SANIA’s risk management function, including market risk monitoring, counterparty credit assessment, margin and collateral management, and the development of the company’s internal limit and control framework. His oversight ensures that all trading activities remain within defined risk parameters and that emerging exposures are identified early.

Rita Maticska — Head of Operations

Ms. Maticska manages the operational backbone of the SANIA Group, including trade settlement, scheduling, nominations, system administration, and coordination with transmission system operators (TSOs) across the group’s active markets. Her function bridges the commercial and physical dimensions of the company’s trading activity.

Mr. Adegbite leads SANIA’s business development efforts, with a focus on new market entry, client acquisition, and the expansion of the company’s geographic and product footprint across European energy markets. He works closely with the commercial and risk teams to assess and execute the company’s growth opportunities.

06

Join us

SANIA is a team of fifteen professionals — and growing. We are deliberately small: every member of the team carries real responsibility, sees the full life cycle of a trade, and works directly with senior colleagues across four countries. As the group expands into new markets and product lines, we regularly look for people in trading, risk management, operations, and business development. If disciplined, entrepreneurial work at the heart of European energy markets appeals to you, we would like to hear from you — write to office@sania-power.com using the subject prefix “Careers”.

07

Sustainability & responsibility

Energy trading takes place at the heart of the European energy transition. Every megawatt-hour we trade has implications for the cost, reliability, and carbon intensity of the European energy system — and we regard sustainability not as a marketing position, but as a dimension of professional responsibility for any modern market participant.

Supporting our clients’ decarbonisation goals

Many of our industrial and institutional clients face increasingly demanding sustainability reporting obligations, including those introduced by the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). We support them through structured commercial offerings that integrate Guarantees of Origin (GOs) for renewable electricity — contractual structures that provide auditable evidence of the environmental attributes of the energy supplied. Structured offerings built on EU Emissions Allowances (EUAs) for carbon accounting are currently under development, building on our earlier experience of direct allowance trading in significant volumes.

Trading renewable energy

A growing share of European electricity generation comes from variable renewable sources. Through our balancing services and our work with aggregators, we help smaller renewable generators access wholesale markets at scale and realise the full commercial value of their output.

Governance & conduct

Responsible conduct extends beyond environmental considerations. Anti-bribery and anti-corruption controls, compliance with applicable international sanctions regimes, fair commercial dealing with counterparties of all sizes, and the professional development of our team are embedded in our internal policies and reviewed periodically by management.

Looking ahead

As sustainability measurement and disclosure standards evolve, we intend to deepen our internal reporting capabilities and continue developing the structured products that support our clients’ transition objectives.

08

Memberships & professional standing

The trading entities of the SANIA Group maintain the registrations, licences, and market memberships required for active participation in their respective national energy markets. SANIA Power s.r.o. holds electricity and gas wholesale licences in Slovakia and gas wholesale licences in Austria and Hungary; SANIA Power AG also holds a gas wholesale licence for the Austrian market. Our Swiss companies operate within the Swiss regulatory framework. We comply with the reporting obligations applicable to wholesale energy market participants under REMIT II (Regulation (EU) 2024/1106), and we maintain corporate governance arrangements consistent with the requirements of the Canton of Zug commercial register.

SANIA Power AG (Switzerland) and SANIA Power s.r.o. (Slovakia) are registered members of the Central European Gas Hub (CEGH) in Vienna — one of Europe’s principal natural gas trading platforms and a strategically important node in Central and South-Eastern European gas flows. CEGH membership provides the group with direct access to the Austrian, Slovak, and broader Central European gas markets.
